Built with Titanium

We got a nice mention on a new site builtwithtitanium.com this week for the Butler's Tale app we developed for Devant, not to mention a decent position on their home page.

Step Up Software presents at Titanium London Meetup

Last week I had the opportunity to meet Jeff Haynie the CEO of Appcelerator Titanium at a special session of the London Titaium Meetup group.

The group gets together once a month for a mixture of presentations, networking and socialising (we meet in a pub!) They are great ways to swap tips and experiences of developing mobile apps.

This meeting was a bit bigger than the norm with over 75 attendees wanting to meet the Titanium guys and learn about their roadmap.

The Butler's Tale App Launches Next Week

The catering is booked, the invites have been sent and we are all set for the big launch next week at our client Devant's offices.

The app provides a quick-reference guide to all the key contract terms, telling you what they do from a commercial, operational and legal perspective.

And it's great fun, too - the app uses storytelling, music and animation to make it easy to remember all the crucial things you must consider when presented with a new contract.

Butler's Tale App Launch / Win a case of vintage champagne!

We have been working with Devant Ltd to develop their first iPhone Animation App, ‘The Butler’s Tale’, ready for launch this December.

The app is a fun and engaging way to help you understand and recall key contract terms and quickly refer to them wherever you are. It tells a story in a cool and quirky cartoon animation with different characters each representing a key contract term. You get to learn more about the characters as the story unfolds.

Apple to introduce "AppStore for Businesses"

Apple announced yesterday that they are making it easier for App publishers to get their apps into the hands of business customers.

The new Volume Purchase Program (VPP) allows a business to set up an account and purchase apps in bulk using a corporate payment card. Business buyers receive codes back (similar to iTunes promo codes) for distribution and redemption by their employees.

This avoids the situation whereby individual employees after purchasing business apps with their own credit card then struggle to claim back the cost through their expenses.

Going Global via the Apple App Store

One of the great things about Apple's App Store is that it gives you access to markets all over the world.

I was reminded of this today when reviewing early sales of our new Business Tips App. We are now pleased to have customers located in the USA, Canada, India and Brazil as well as the UK.

More details on the app can be found here http://www.stepupsoftware.co.uk/content/business-tips-app

Removing software that refuses to go away

Today I tried to uninstall an evaluation version of Microsoft's SQL Management Studio.  The only problem was it refused to go away, it did not even appear in my list of installed programs.  This old tip saved the day for me...
